President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race for the White House on Sunday, July 21, ending his bid for reelection following a disastrous debate with Donald Trump that raised doubts about his fitness for office just four months before the election.

President Biden, 81, ended his re-election campaign and threw the 2024 presidential race into disarray on Sunday, yielding to intense pressure from his closest allies who were deeply concerned about his ability to defeat former President Donald J. Trump due to his age and frailty. Praising Vice President Kamala Harris as an “extraordinary partner,” he endorsed her to lead the ticket in his place.
